Fate Misunderstood

Scream the Prayer 2008
A club in my hometown hosted Scream the Prayer 2008 tour.  This summer tour including some really great Christian Screamo/Metalcore bands.  Needless to say I was really impressed with the level of musicianship and talent.  What I was expecting was a battle of the bands style, highschool level music, but this concert really blew me away!

Because the show was set in such a small venue, fans were able to feel more intimate with the bands.  After each 5 song set, the bands would sit around their merch booth or hang out with the fans in the pit or at the bar.  I always feel starstruck with any level of musicians, so this was a really fun aspect of the show.

We arrived 2 hours after the door opened, so we missed two or three bands, but of the bands we were able to see, Agraceful and AKISSFORJERSEY really rocked out.

Agraceful reminded me a lof blessthefall in their style of music and image.  I was sad to see that blessthefall was not able to go on tour for Scream the Prayer or even Warped, since they are currently working with their new unannounced lead singer on putting together their second album.  I dig.

Blessed by a Broken Heart

But I digress.  Scream the Prayer was a great experience, but you could tell the crowd wanted more.  And that’s when Blessed by a Broken Heart came out.  Imagine an 80’s hair metal band paired with modernday metalcore, lasers, fog machine, synthesizers and mullets, and you’d get Blessed by a Broked Heart.  The crowd was having a good time headbanging and putting up their horns throughout the day, but when these guys came on stage, something magical happened and the place errupted.  These guys, by far, had the BEST stage pressence and just looked like they were having the best time.  I caught myself smiling and laughing during their set because I couldn’t understand what I was hearing and seeing, but I knew I was loving it.

I’m looking forward to their new album, out in September, “Pedal to the Metal” Check out their MySpace page: Blessed By A Broken Heart MySpace
